2010 Contest Rules
Official Contest Rules as of: September 3, 2010
“LAZER 103.3’s $40,000 Rock Girl Search” is a radio promotion contest that will air September 7, 2010 through November 13, 2010 on Lazer 103.3 (hereinafter referred to as “contest”) in which listeners will have the chance to win more than $40,000 in prizes (hereinafter referred to as “Grand Prize”).

Prospective entrants must come to one of the following casting calls to be eligible for “LAZER’s $40,000 Rock Girl Search:
9/18/10 @ 12p-5pm: Lower Younkers Court in the Jordan Creek Town Center, 101 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, IA 50266
9/25/10 @ 12pm-5pm: Lower Center Court in Valley West Mall, 1551 Valley West Drive, West Des Moines, IA 50266
10/2/10 @ 12p-5pm: Lower Younkers Court in the Jordan Creek Town Center, 101 Jordan Creek Parkway, West Des Moines, IA 50266
At the casting calls, entrants will be required to complete an application, show photo identification (as contestants must be 21 years of age), and be prepared to explain why they should be the LAZER Rock Girl. This explanation will be videotaped by Mediacom and featured on their Video OnDemand channels in a 60-second segment. All footage recorded and videotapes become the property of LAZER 103.3 and Mediacom.
Each Casting Call will be capped at 30 girls.
There will be three rounds of judging:
Round one of judging will be completed by LAZER listeners via www.lazer1033.com , by LAZER staff, and management. Materials and information collected from the casting calls and application will be made available to listeners on air and/or at www.lazer1033.com and on Mediacom OnDemand. Listeners will vote for the entrants they deem to be most fit to be the LAZER Rock Girl. Voting will take place from 10/4/10 @ 7am and conclude 10/17/10 @ 11:59pm. Finalists will be announced on 10/20/10. The top 10 finalists will be determined using a combination of internet votes, by LAZER staff, and management judging. LAZER management and staff will use the following criteria as a guideline when selecting final 10 entrants to proceed to round two:
Round two of judging will be completed by LAZER listeners via voting at Rock Girl Campaign Stops and through text votes.
Campaign Voting: Times, dates, and locations of campaign stops will be made available to listeners on air and/or at www.lazer1033.com. Listeners will vote for one of the top 10 finalists that they deem to be most fit to be the LAZER Rock Girl. Listeners may vote only once per campaign stop, but may vote at multiple stops. Voting will take place from 10/20/10 to 11/13/10. Each finalist will have an equal opportunity to be voted on at each campaign stop, attendance is not required. Lazer reserves the right to lengthen or shorten the voting time period.
Texting Votes: Listeners may vote for their favorite Rock Girl via text. Voting will take place from 10/20/10 to 11/12/10. Each finalist will have an equal opportunity to be voted on and will be designated with a certain text code that represents them once they have been selected. In order to vote via text the listener will also need to be a member of Lazer TXT (Lazer’s texting program). To join Lazer TXT listeners can go to www.lazer1033.com or text ‘LAZER1033’ space JOIN to 49330. Lazer reserves the right to lengthen or shorten the voting time period.
Round three of judging will be completed by employees of LAZER and a panel of judges TBD. Finalists will be required to participate in interviews and in a pageant on TBA at TBA at the TBD venue. Finalists will be judged based on the same criteria set in 3a above. The voting totals from round 3b above will be taken into consideration in this round. The entrant’s total score will be based on scores from LAZER employee judges and the judging panel. The finalist who earns the highest scores will win (the “Winner”), and Winner will be announced at the beauty pageant.
During the pageant the Rock Girl finalists may be asked to answer questions, wear different outfits including a bikini, dress, Rock Girl apparel, etc and explain why they should be the next Rock Girl
The pageant is the last opportunity to impress the judges.
Contest is open to all legal residents of Iowa, 21 years or older who are licensed drivers. Professional radio personalities (persons who have been paid for their on air performance in the past year) are not eligible. All employees of LAZER, Saga Communications, their affiliates, subsidiaries, and successor companies, Mediacom, contest sponsors, advertising and promotion agencies, contest prize suppliers, or employees of other radio stations or any mass communication within a one hundred mile radius of the LAZER 103.3 main studio, and the immediate family members of each are not eligible. “Immediate family member” shall include spouses, siblings, parents, children, grandparents, and grandchildren whether as “in-laws” or by current or past marriage, remarriage, adoption, co-habitation, or other familial extension, and any other persons residing at the same household location, whether related or not related. LAZER reserves the right to disqualify any entrant at any time at its sole discretion. Entrants who provide any false information with respect to employment history, background, or other credentials may be immediately disqualified, or if already selected as the winner, immediately terminated.
Winner will be hired as the Lazer 103.3 $40,000 Rock Girl for an estimated one-year engagement and will be entitled to an annual cash/prize salary of $47,547. $10,000 of this prize package is in the form of salary which will be payable in accordance with LAZER’s regular payroll policy. Employment taxes and withholding shall be deducted from winner’s paychecks consistent with LAZER’s standard payroll practices.
The $10,000 will be paid evenly over the estimated one year period on a bi-weekly basis (every other week).
The remaining $47,547 will be awarded in the form of the following:
One (1) year lease of an unfurnished apartment from AP Lofts. Lease is only meant for the winner to reside and cannot be sublet. Does NOT include deposit, cable/internet, washer/dryer, pet fees, garage rental, or utilities.(Total lease value $12,000)
A three-night trip to Riu Playacar, in Riviero Maya, Mexico from Apple Vacations (Value: $4,000)
A $100 monthly bar tab from Uncle Bucs (Value: $1,200)
A Brand New Kymco People 50s scooter from Fenders Cycle (Total value: $2,200)
Clothing from Dirty Denim. 833 Suite B, 42nd Street, Des Moines (Value not to exceed $2,000)
Professional headshots and portfolio from MG Photography ($1,800 value)

Winner must be available to participate in station activities a maximum of 25 hours per week (duties as required and assigned), and be willing to travel around LAZER listening area and to other destinations as determined. Winner must be available to work non-traditional hours including nights and weekends. Winner must be willing to appear at different venues and types of promotions including but not limited to concerts, bars, nightclubs, retail locations and more. Winner must be willing to dress in appropriate apparel for station events. No prize substitution or cash redemption allowed by winner. Prize is not transferable. Winner will be subject to all employment policies of LAZER. These contest rules do not modify winner’s employment-at-will relationship. LAZER and winner are free to terminate the employment relationship at any time and for any reason. Should this take place prior to the conclusion of the winner’s term, any and all prizes from that point forward, which have not been paid in full, become the sole property of LAZER and forfeited by the winner.
LAZER shall have all rights to copy, edit, broadcast, publish and use, in whole or in part, any materials featuring entrants, in any manner without compensation. Winner will be required to execute an Employment Agreement, Affidavit and Publicity/Liability Release or prize will be forfeited. LAZER reserves the right to substitute prize with similar prize of equal or greater value for any reason. In the event the winner is not available or cannot otherwise fulfill the duties of LAZER Rock Girl, an alternative may be selected. LAZER is an equal opportunity employer.
Winner is responsible for all taxes on prize awarded. Winner will be required to complete the appropriate tax forms at the LAZER 103.3 studios prior to claiming prize. Winner will be sent a 1099 MISC federal tax form.
By attending a casting call, entrant agrees to be bound by these Official Rules. Entrants agree to submit to a background check. Entrants represent and affirm that they owe no conflicting obligations under contract or otherwise that would interfere with their performance if chosen to be LAZER’s $40,000 Rock Girl. Winner must provide satisfactory references and proof of identification and work authorization as required by the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. Entry constitutes permission to use entrant’s name and likeness for purposes of conducting the contest and for publicity purposes without compensation. LAZER, Mediacom, Des Moines Radio Group, LLC, Saga Communications of Iowa, Inc., their subsidiaries and affiliates, their officers, directors, agents, stockholders, insurers, and employees, and their advertising and promotional agencies and sponsors assume no responsibility or liability whatsoever for damages, loss or injury resulting from participating in any contest or acceptance or use of the prize (s). In consideration of participation in the contest, and for other good and valuable consideration, the receipt and sufficiency of which are hereby acknowledged, the entrant, on entrant’s behalf, and on behalf of entrant’s heirs, successors or assigns, administrators and personal representatives, does hereby COVENANT NOT TO SUE, FULLY RELEASE AND FOREVER DISCHARGE (i) LAZER, (ii) Mediacom, (iii) Des Moines Radio Group, LLC, (iv) Saga Communications, Inc., and each of their respective direct and indirect subsidiaries, affiliates, partners and related entities, (v) each of their respective directors, officers, employees, agents, insurers, attorneys, shareholders and representatives, and (vi) each predecessor, successor, and assign thereof, from and against any and all actions, charges, claims, losses, costs, damages, expenses (including attorneys’ fees and expenses) and liabilities of any kind or character, whether known or unknown, in connection with, arising out of or in any way related to entrant’s participation in the contest. Any and all disputes, claims and causes of action arising out of or connected with this contest, or any prize awarded, shall be resolved individually, without resort to any form of class action, and exclusively by arbitration. Claims, judgments and awards shall be limited to actual out-of- pocket costs incurred, including costs associated with entering this contest, but in no event attorney's fees. Offer void where prohibited and subject to federal, state and local laws. Decisions of the contest judges are final and binding in all respects. Odds of winning depend on the number of qualified entrants and skills of same. All of The Des Moines Radio Group’s general contest rules also apply to this promotion. LAZER reserves the right in its sole discretion to supplement or make changes to the rules of any contest at any time without notice. LAZER reserves the right in its sole discretion to interpret the rules of any contest, and such interpretation shall be binding upon all participants.
No purchase necessary to participate or win. Void where prohibited by law.
In the event the winner is subject to or the subject of any order or legal process issued by any governmental agency having jurisdiction over the affairs of the winner (i.e. garnishment, child support order, judgment, lien, and the like), LAZER 103.3 delivery of the prize to the official representative of the governmental entity claiming a right to the prize shall be thus deemed as LAZER 103.3 awarding the prize to the winner. LAZER 103.3 shall be entitled to rely in good faith, upon any documents presented by the representative seeking to collect the prize in lieu of the winner. LAZER 103.3shall not be liable for any claim by any winner for damages incidental thereto.
As a licensee of the FCC and a trustee of the public airwaves, LAZER 103.3 reserves the right to interrupt and/or discontinue any contest or promotion (and not award the offered prize) at the discretion of LAZER 103.3 management if world events, the national mood, or public safety warrant.
All federal, state, and local laws and regulations apply. Contest is void were prohibited.
